Project Outcome
The project involved the construction of a new 2,000-seat North Stand, increasing the stadium’s total capacity to over 10,000. This stand includes covered seating above pitch level and associated enclosed ancillary areas, such as ground-floor undercroft units, concessions, toilets, and plant/service areas on both ground and first floors.
In addition to the new construction, significant alterations and refurbishments were made to the existing West Stand. These upgrades enhanced corporate areas, media zones, entertainment spaces, and introduced new kitchen and dining facilities. Minor improvements were also made to the South Stand, improving access to accessible seating areas and adding a new accessible family changing room.
ORS played a critical role as the Assigned Certifier, working closely with the Design Certifier and the Contractor to ensure all works were inspected and certified in accordance with Building Regulations. The team also coordinated with SDCC Building Control to develop a phased completion strategy, allowing the stadium to continue operating and hosting events during the construction process.
The Tallaght Stadium Project was successfully completed and officially entered onto the Building Register in February 2024. The new and improved facilities have not only increased the stadium’s seating capacity but also significantly enhanced the overall visitor experience. These upgrades were essential for maintaining the stadium’s UEFA Category Four status, enabling it to continue hosting high-profile European matches.
