A particularly unique challenge to this project involved accommodating the client’s requirement for heavy goods traffic through the building for loading/unloading goods into the design. This involved precise coordination and management of the design team to deliver a cost-effective and compliant design solution.
Further design challenges involved the presence of a nationally strategically important gas distributor main through the site, which sterilised a sizeable portion of the site. This required specialist-engineered solutions to maximise the available area of the site for development.
During the project’s construction period, the client’s primary operations changed, resulting in a requirement to extend the building by 25%. Through careful communication and project management, ORS managed the successful planning permission application, design and construction of this additional change without affecting the project programme.
