Project Outcome
Appointed as PSDP from the early design stage through to completion, ORS ensured the project was delivered in full compliance with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations and Health and Safety Authority (HSA) requirements. The General Principles of Prevention were embedded throughout the design process, enabling risks to be identified and mitigated at an early stage.
Our approach began with a detailed site assessment to identify potential hazards associated with the development and surrounding environment. A live project risk register was established to track and manage risks as the design progressed. During the detailed design stage, ORS submitted the AF1 notification to the HSA and prepared the Preliminary Safety and Health Plan, identifying Particular Risks through the review and coordination of Design Risk Assessments from the full design team.
During construction, ORS conducted monthly site inspections to review site practices and ensure safe systems of work were being implemented. Reports were issued following each visit outlining observations and required actions, which were monitored through subsequent inspections. Monthly Health and Safety coordination meetings were also held with the Client and PSCS to review site activities, emerging hazards, temporary works, public safety considerations and updates to project safety documentation.
To support project close-out, ORS implemented a live Safety File tracking system to manage the collection and review of documentation in collaboration with the design team and PSCS. This ensured all required information was compiled and approved ahead of project completion, enabling a smooth and compliant handover.
The Adamstown Primary Care Centre was successfully delivered in full regulatory compliance and now provides essential healthcare services to the local community.
