Project Outcome
Acting as Civil and Structural Consulting Engineers, ORS was responsible for the structural design and coordination of the redevelopment throughout the project lifecycle. The primary objective was to transform two redundant commercial buildings into high-quality residential accommodation while delivering practical, durable and sustainable engineering solutions.
Completed in 2022, the âŹ26 million development delivered 86 social housing units, providing homes for more than 200 people. Through close collaboration with the client, contractor and wider design team, the project was successfully delivered while balancing the constraints of the existing structures with modern residential, accessibility and acoustic standards.
The redevelopment also delivers significant environmental benefits through the retention and reuse of the existing buildings, reducing embodied carbon while incorporating energy-efficient systems, including heat recovery ventilation and photovoltaic solar panels.
