Mount Carmel Hospital, Dublin

Several key challenges were encountered during the Mount Carmel Community Hospital refurbishment project. The design required new floor layouts, necessitating the provision of additional floor supports, which presented a significant structural challenge. Additionally, providing supports for the new operating room theatres, specifically for pendants and surgical lights, required precise engineering solutions.

These challenges were successfully overcome through close coordination between the design disciplines and key subcontractors, including the steel subcontractor, M&E subcontractor, and the operating rooms supplier. This collaborative approach ensured that all structural and service requirements were met without compromising on quality or safety.

Notable successes from this project include the accommodation of new services within the existing structures and the provision of robust supports for the operating room systems.
